When you are writing researches such as Term Paper, Thesis and Dissertation, your sentences should be brief since long ones direct the reader into other ideas, not usually what you want to say. Comma splices should be avoided too. There is also a need for consistency to the terms used and in the form of expression. For example, discussions should center on the way terms have defined and these terms should be need consistently throughout. If the discussion employs the word “percentage” and not “%” that you prefer, this is acceptable provided it consistently used. There must be continuity from chapter to chapter and from section to section. Transitional sentences help you achieve this quality. The language and style should reflect accurate rules of grammar, correct spelling and correct punctuation. It is however advised that the passive voice of the verb be used. The first person is not used in order that the style does not become personal.
